Rationale:
A team of qualified gymnastics coaches are able to deliver weekly gymnastics sessions and specialist dance to classes in Early Years, Phase 1 and Phase 2. These sessions provide the pupils with regular opportunities to improve their basic agility, balance and coordination, with professionally trained staff. It provides pupils with a regular fun and engaging activity which is suited to their needs, allowing them to access activities they may have been unable to previously.

Rationale:
A brand new opportunity to allow children from Milestone to develop essential swimming and water safety skills at an earlier stage than they have ever done before. Each class within phase 1 will take part in a weekly swimming lesson delivered by trained swimming teachers provided by Fairfield Leisure centre.
Justification:
We need to provide more opportunities for students to improve water safety skills and more opportunities to increase the numbers of students who are confident in water.
Impact:
Development in crucial water safety skills and an increase in confidence in swimming skills for our students at an earlier age.

This 2 day training course will train a sufficient number of staff to ensure we have a sustainable Rebound Therapy programme at the school for the foreseeable future.
Rationale:
Leigh Academy Milestone is hosting a two day Rebound Therapy training course on 9th and 10th of February. ‘Rebound Therapy’ describes a specific method of use of a full sized trampoline to provide opportunities for movement, therapeutic exercise and recreation for people across virtually the whole spectrum of additional needs. We intend to upskill a number of staff to be able to increase specialism in this area.
Justification:
7/8 Milestone staff to be trained over a two day period to increase provision and improve the delivery of Rebound Therapy for our PMLD students.
Impact:
Increased number of staff being qualified to deliver Rebound Therapy to our 6 PMLD classes. Our number of staff trained to deliver the programme has moved from 1 to 9 with the introduction of this training. This will ensure Rebound always takes place each Tuesday and that there is a sufficient number of staff trained to cover PE staff if they are not available to deliver sessions on a particular day. Increase knowledge and understanding of techniques, safety and the rationale behind why we offer Rebound to our students.

We have purchased 12 Oddballs which is the first ball in the world to make music. This is A unique drum machine to make music on the go” ODD Ball makes sound-making accessible to anyone” “Inspiring the next generation of musicians”
We have purchased 12 of these so that classes can engage with their use in Music lessons and improve their fine motor skills as well as being able to put their creative skills to use and improve their music skills.
Justification:
A cross curricular and sustainable means of developing fine motor skills through the use of the ball in music lessons at the academy.
Impact:
Improvement in fine motor skills linked to EHCP targets. Creating a link between two subjects, PE and music will enable both regular engagement and enjoyment and improve key skills in each of these subjects.

Rationale:
We have signed up for a full membership with Complete PE. Complete PE is recognised nationally and recommended by the Youth Sports Trust amongst other organisations. Complete PE is an interactive PE resource, designed to support a high quality PE curriculum. Features include a curriculum mapping tool, interactive videos including videos of success criteria to aid lessons, resource cards, a subject leaders area to aid CPD and a high quality assessment tool to track progress data and physical activity levels across the school.

To improve the PE curriculum in terms of quality of learning. To provide a means of accurately tracking PE progress data. To enhance quality PE hours in primary phases.
Impact:
Complete PE is now fully embedded as our PE curriculum. It has allowed for progressive lesson planning and improved the quality of PE being delivered across the school. The curriculum map is used by the phase 2 primary PE teacher to plan and assess and is also being used by the dance lead and phase 1 class teachers who have been trained in how to use the platform, enhancing physical development within our primary phases. The assessment tool has allowed us to be able to accurately track progress and plan interventions where required for students not on track.

Rationale:
We have ordered a range of sports equipment including basketballs, boccia, footballs, bibs, cones, hoops and floor spots amongst other things to enhance lessons across the curriculum and to cover the lessons taught within the curriculum map over the academic year. We have also purchased a couple of means of storage for this new equipment which can be easily accessed by Phase 1 and 2 teachers leading PE.
Justification:
To improve the standard of lessons and the delivery of PE across the school. To provide phase 1 and 2 teachers delivering their own PE with suitable and easily accessible equipment to confidently teach PE lessons.
Impact:
Improvement in PE provision as a whole. Enhance PE progress data over the duration of the academic year. Increased quality of lessons and improved confidence in teaching PE for staff.
