On Thursday 26th March 2026,  a group of incredibly enthusiastic students from Milestone@Wilmington travelled to Longmead Stadium, home of Tonbridge Angels, to play in a Post-16 Pan-Disability Football Tournament. This event was the first of its kind hosted by The Oaks Specialist College.

The Milestone team went into the tournament with a positive attitude, focused on working together and most importantly having fun. They took on three other teams in the group stages, winning every match: 2-1, 2-1 and 5-0. Every single member of the Milestone team went above and beyond throughout the matches, leaving everything they had on the pitch.

The day culminated in a final showdown in the Champions Final, where our team faced the winner of the group, Nexus School. Facing tough opposition, Milestone students played with determination and a genuine desire to succeed. They won the final 2-0, maintaining an undefeated record throughout the day! All of the students represented Milestone with absolute pride, their attitudes were exceptional! Though they had never played together as a team, their performance was so amazing you would never have known.

On the way back to school, the whole team joined together singing “We are the Champions”  and were even welcomed back with a guard of honour from all of the waiting Wilmington students and staff. The atmosphere was electric, and the victorious team beamed with huge smiles as they received well-deserved praise and congratulations.

A huge well done to the team for their achievements, you have made us all so proud!
