Parent & Pupil Surveys

Results from Parent/Carer & Pupil Surveys

We would like to thank those who responded to our annual survey. Your feedback and continued support is invaluable to us.

The Pupil Survey is made available in hardcopy, symbolised format and a Google form to ensure it is accessible; it is then adapted further by the class teacher as required to support students to complete it.

Online Safety – Are you satisfied with the level of online safety information provided by the school?

87% (10% unsure and would like support in this area)

  • My son is happy in this school. It is the right mix of challenge and nurture.
  • The school is truly exceptional. It feels like a family away from home, not just a team of staff but an extension of our own family. It is clear how much they genuinely care for my child, and I feel incredibly grateful and blessed that she is part of such a supportive school with such wonderful staff.
  • Overall I’m very happy with my son’s progress since he has been at school. He is a very bright little boy and he has grown with the school so well.
  • The school is well suited for my child, he’s well taught, and the teachers send a report which gives me a clear idea of my child’s activities in school.
  • I feel well informed by the school and my child is doing very well! I enjoy seeing pictures on the evidence for learning app.
  • The teachers and teaching support at this school are second to none. They truly care for each child’s development and work well with therapies and parents to encourage milestones and targets to be met.
  • The school is doing a great job on my child.
  • Moving my child to Milestone was the best decision we made for her overall development, potential and emotional growth. The rounded care and focus is exceptional. The smiles on the faces of the staff tell me how much they enjoy working with the children and how exceptional the staff are to choose this vocation. My daughter is flourishing, happy and Milestone life is key to her mental happy balance – she loves school, all the activities and the way that it stretches her to reach her potential. I can never overstate what it means to have the right schooling in place, in a life with huge health challenges. The care, focus and stretch for her is exceptional. Thank you, Milestone

  • Communication. Consistency with Home to School diaries.
  • Is it possible to have comments for the day added to evidence for learning instead of having a daily email? I feel this would be easier than having multiple platforms to check each day and information is all in one place.
  • We have developed a Home School Communication Policy which details how we communicate with families and how to get your questions answered.
  • Evidence for Learning communication regarding a pupil’s day, if this changes in the future this will be considered.
  • We have further developed the class pages on the school website where you can find out what pupils have been learning and activities they have been taking part in.

Phase 1 Class Pages

Phase 2 Class Pages

  • Any chance of before school or after school clubs at Milestones so I can go back to work.
  • Extra curricular clubs either run by school or signposted by school to help develop children’s broader interests.
  • I wish that there were more opportunities for children as part of Milestone such as breakfast/afterschool club for working parents.
  • This is an area we regularly review, however the main challenge continues to be that the vast majority of pupils are transported home from school through their local authority.
  • We have increased the opportunities available for access to lunch time clubs to ensure there are opportunities for all whilst in school, please see the ‘Enrichment’ tab on each Phase Class Pages webpage as this has the information regarding what pupils can access in school.
  • Our Student Services Officers will put together information regarding what is available for children with SEN through local services, including respite providers, and after school clubs, we will ask families for support with this as many families often have more information than school regarding out of school opportunities.
  • Tailored targets for individual children, more academic targets, review targets each term.
  • I would like more information on academic targets and how I can support my child at home.
  • Feedback on targets etc useful.
  • The Home School Communication Policy details how information regarding individual targets and how this is shared.
  • The Home Learning Policy has been reviewed.
  •

The school needs to have a 19-25 provision as there is nothing suitable for PMLD children in this area.

Some sort of provision for when they leave Milestone at 19. There is just nothing out there suitable to meet their needs.

  • A 19-25 provision is a separate organisation from a school and there are no plans to branch into this.
  • Phase 4 leadership team provides support for families of pupils and this is an essential part of the Annual Review meeting.
  • We will develop further links with Post 19 education and social services providers to support their development of an appropriate provision for pupils who leave Milestone for their next steps.

Online safety has been a significant focus across school during the past year with 95% pupils now saying they know how to stay safe online. Of those who did not know how to feel safe, they were primarily younger pupils who continue to need support in this area.

In the previous year’s survey, 92% pupils said they knew how to eat healthily and look after themselves. Further work has focused on this area through the PE and PSPD curriculum, as a result, this area has increased again with 98% of pupils now agreeing that they know how to eat healthily and look after themselves.

31% pupils have stated they do not have access to school activities outside of lessons.

Teachers and leaders continue to work with the Phase school council members to find out what you would like to do outside of lessons and make a plan for what can be offered, for example lunchtime clubs.
