Last week, our school was filled with excitement as we celebrated a fantastic World Book Day, immersing ourselves in the magical world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Across all classes and phases, pupils explored the story in ways that demonstrated how a single text can be adapted to meet the needs of all learners. Our multi-sensory activities brought the story to life—pupils delighted in exploring a melted chocolate river, engaged in choice-making with communication boards while decorating lollipops, and activated switches to create bubbly lemonade using a soda stream. In our Waterfall classes, pupils took their creativity even further, designing their own chocolate bar packaging and writing instructions for unique chocolate inventions. A real highlight of the week was seeing the incredible effort that went into our book-themed hat competition, with a fantastic array of designs inspired by stories from Peppa Pig to The Wizard of Oz. Pupils proudly showcased their creations during a joyful parade in the sports hall, where the enthusiasm and love for reading shone through. It was a wonderful celebration of storytelling, imagination, and inclusion, making this year’s World Book Day one to remember!
