Leigh Academy Milestone Named Kent Mental Wellbeing Award 2025 Winner

We are incredibly proud to share that Leigh Academy Milestone has won the district award at the Kent Mental Wellbeing Awards 2025, and been named the overall champion for Wellbeing in Schools for Kent and Medway, recognising Milestone’s outstanding commitment to the mental health and wellbeing of its whole school community.

As a multi-site special needs school, Milestone goes above and beyond to ensure that every pupil, staff member, and family feels supported, valued, and cared for. Wellbeing is not just an initiative — it’s embedded in the school’s daily culture.

From calming Zen Dens and Forest School sessions to innovative therapeutic interventions like Liquid Listening and Soundbeam, Milestone provides a wide range of support tailored to individual needs. The academy’s curriculum promotes emotional literacy, resilience, and independence, preparing pupils for life beyond school.

Michelle Hilton, Assistant Principal and Wellbeing Lead, said: “ We are thrilled to receive this recognition. We’re proud of our inclusive enrichment activities, community volunteering, and strong family engagement through wellbeing workshops and events. Staff wellbeing is also a huge priority, which is supported by our dedicated Wellbeing Committee and trained mental health first aiders. Winning this award reflects our shared vision, creativity, and deep-rooted belief that wellbeing is the foundation for success — for everyone.”

Michelle Hilton will attend the award ceremony later this month to represent the academy and to collect the award.

Kent Mental Wellbeing Awards 2025 celebrate mental health, kindness, and wellbeing best practices in the community, business, education, and charity sectors. This year’s award ceremony will take place on the 24th October.
