This year, for the first time, Milestone took part in the RHS Big Seed Sow. This is a national initiative which aims to bring schools, community groups and individuals together to sow and grow seeds and to take part in gardening. The event saw RHS share 9.21m seeds with participants nationwide. This year’s theme was ‘Knowledge is flower’ with the focus on sustainable gardening whereby a concerted effort is made to decrease your water usage. Drought-tolerant seeds were available as part of the seed support packages and there were lots of resources and questions to consider. Milestone pupils across all phases got involved. We sowed Cosmos, Rudbeckia and Sunflowers and we look forward to watching them grow and become part of our environment at Milestone. The next event will be the ‘Big Seed Save’ which takes place in the autumn, so we will be ready to participate once again.
