Splish, splash – Koala Class are doing swimmingly!

Pupils in Koala Class have had a wonderful time in recent weeks, taking regular trips offsite to Fairfield Swimming Pool. They travelled by school transport and the children all demonstrated their principled attributes by wearing their seatbelt and sitting beautifully, in order to stay safe. Once at the pool, they worked with a dedicated swimming instructor, Jess, and she encouraged the children to use the noodles in order to float and become confident in the water. This required the children to be open minded and risk takers, and they embraced the challenge.

Over the course of five weeks, the children began to float on their tummies or backs and kick their legs in order to move through the water. Some children proved that they were thinkers as they realised that if they kicked harder they could move further or faster! They were also encouraged to blow bubbles in order to become happy with having their face in the water. Some children even felt ready to jump into the pool during the last session which was really brave and exciting. The Koala Class team have watched on with great pride and joy as all the children made so much progress with their swimming and have become more confident in the water.
